High school. These four years entrap the peak of the transitioning from the teenage years to adulthood; with this comes self-discovery, academic achievement, and of course, relationships. To a hormonal teenage girl or boy, being in a romantic relationship may feel like the most important thing in the world. While sacrificing everything for the sake of a relationship may work dating in school well in movies like Twilightthat is not the case in the real world. Romantic involvement can actually heavily weigh down a student in their academic endeavor, whether or not they realize it.
Imagine this: As his suitor emerges, they exchange the proper salutations. Dating in school, imagine this: The unspoken tension between two of them is obvious. They like each other. They like each other a lot. Laughing and shouting, their friends subtly try to push dating in school two toward each other.

Neither fourth graders nor sophomores are physically fully grown, neither are legally responsible for their own actions, neither pay for their own food or clothes or rent, neither have careers, neither has a high school diploma, neither is legally old enough to dating in school, neither can vote, neither can buy wine, neither can be drafted for war, neither has credit, neither can rent an apartment… I could keep going.

Develop your own personality. Nothing is less attractive to the opposite sex than a person with no confidence, hobby or dating in school of their own. If you're creative, get involved with a writing group or join the band. Get out there and meet people and be able to have something to bring to the conversation. Pick someone you have something in common with. If you are a honor roll student and member of the key club, but you're interested in the slacker in the back row, you will have conflicted interests. More importantly, if you are a needy person and you want to date a loner, you will have problems getting to a comfortable intimacy level. Try to find someone that you think you can relate to - dating in school and mentally.
Dating in medical school is not easy. During the first two years, you are constantly studying and making sure you are passing and hopefully acing! Medical school is not only time-consuming; it is mind-consuming. I especially value my time and absolutely hate wasting time. I also frequently think because I am a medical student, my time is more valuable than others, especially those without demanding jobs. With that being said, I often rely on texting and other forms of electronic communication to stay up to date with my significant other. However, there is so much room for miscommunication via these methods. I try to avoid miscommunications dating in school trying to be as clear as possible in my texts.
